Pure nostalgia...By JoLeeSong (4 reviews) from London , 18 Jul 2009
[Highly rated reviewer]...Not that I remember it when it was released of course, but for lovers of a good detective story and Sherlock Holmes in particular, the Rathbone/Bruce pairing as Holmes and Watson is absolutely classic.
Look out for the terrible cockney accents - it makes Dick van Dyke look unfairly persecuted all these years - but happily it does nothing to detract from the enjoyment of what is a perfect piece of comfort viewing for a Sunday afternoon.

Iconic actors, wonderful storyBy JTD (17 reviews) , 07 Mar 2013What's not to love about this winning combination of actors playing iconic roles - good plotline, lots of action and nice humour. Just hoping many of the other Rathbone and Bruce Sherlock Holmes films will be made available online.
Good filmBy a customer , 03 Jan 2013Basil Rathbone as Holmes is always watchable. This film has a few nice twists along the way. Sit back and enjoy

Another great Rathbone/Bruce partnership!By FefeAlabama (28 reviews) from Bristol , 20 Mar 2011Another great Sherlock Holmes film, in which Rathbone brilliantly portrays the clever, satirical, charming Holmes that any fan of the Rathbone/Bruce pairing will love! This time, Sherlock has been paid to look after the Star of Rhodesia Diamond, on board a train headed to Edingborough, but someone is out to steal the Diamond and killings and trickery are out to stop Holmes from doing his job! A good watch for any fan of the black and white Sherlock Holmes films! Not quite as good as the Woman In Green though.
