It's very silly and nearly lost me within the first 15mins, but it ends up being a charming action film. Don't go into it expecting it to be anything resembling the original books or the subsequent TV series - this is stylised action-nonsense that has only the smallest similarity its source material, in that there is a character called Sherlock Holmes and that he is clever. ***spoiler alert*** Is it just me, or was the biggest mystery of the film - the fact that Lord Darkwood survived being hanged - a bit weak? 'Well Watson, he tied the rope around his waist instead of his neck (Winona Ryder in Heathers, anyone?) and took a hitherto unheard of drug that stops you having a heartbeat for a while.' Brilliant. And the Dr didn't spot that he was still breathing and warm? In summary, it's the usual Guy Richie tosh, but a bit better.
