Diva extraordinaire

She is THE Belter. A brassy hussy with a voice that could floor a small Army, she proves she is not only the consumate professional, but also a good natured, funny women who shows no signs of letting age catch up with her. A few 'diva' moments in the footage as well, such as the absolutely classic 'Eels, Eel Pie...Eel Pie, I want Eeels'

By jackarama (6 reviews) , 05 Apr 2012I'm a Bassey fan... but the interesting segments on this DVD are most definitely when she's not singing! The concert segments seemed to be filmed by a cameraman drunk or suffering a very bad nervous problem and worse; the sound engineer must have never covered any kind of music perfomance - it was so hoplessly out of balance as to destroy every song and make the orchestra sound like a group of amateurs in a jam session. The concert was probably very good - just filmed badly. How Bassey ever permitted this I can't understand. I can only think she had no say in the mattter
There must be THE definitive Bassey concert on DVD somewhere, but sadly this isn't it. But I'll keep searching.- Was this review helpful to you?

Dissapointing DVD
By a customer from NW, England , 17 May 2005The synopsis is misleading. This is not a film of a concert. It is a documentary where concert footage is mixed with tedious interviews.
