    [Highly rated reviewer]

From the producer of 'Pan's Labyrinth' and 'The Orphanage' comes Shiver, the latest chilling horror .......... Pardon?...chilling?? bit of a draught rather....

Again vastly dissapointed by this film, although felt that it had a little more substance that his other films.Nods to PL and even odd twitlight feel to the characters and interactions.Again lacking that final 'push' - hard to distinguish between if film is either 'Ok' or 'interesting'.Only became alarmed once during the course of the film as found the sounds of the distressed sheep slightly unsettling - other than that geko was very cute.

not bad by any means, kind of felt like the director was not giving audience credit to have any intelligence, the plot was laid out on a plate with a very predictable storyline, but saying that it was enjoyable as long as you dont get too highbrow about it all, after all it is just a film and a horror film at that!

Badly written, badly acted & really not worth your time. It was a huge disappointment.

And don't ask me why it's called 'Shiver'. That seems to bear no relation to the subject matter & the film's not in the least chilling or threatening.

If you're expecting something of 'Pan's Labyrinth' pedigree in this film (given that's how it's billed) I fear you'll be badly disappointed.

first off i usually enjoy foreign films so i'm not of thse idiots whose like omg i have to read and watch at the same time?? This film was terrible, too many plot-holes to mention, awful acting, rubbish script, rubbish plot, awful beginning, middle and end and really, really low-grade direction and production values to it. All in all avoid there are fair better foreign horrors out there for you to watch.

On the plus side, this is an atmospheric little chiller which is well made and looks good. Any resemblance to 'Pan's Labyrinth' is in the cinematography and general style of the production only - it lacks that film's sophistication of content and ideas, and was made, I would have thought, for a younger audience. On the minus side, it's all a little wrapped-up and tidy, with a potentially interesting theme of outsiders in a parallel between the isolated central character and the thing in the forest not really going anywhere, and some irritating inconsistencies in the behaviour of the adult characters. More seriously, the believability and dignity, I suppose, of the younger characters is consistently undermined by the subtitlers' insistence on representing their speech in the tedious cliches of American teen-speak: f--- you, man; cool; shiddy; have the balls; hot chicks; a-hole; this sucks, etc., etc, ad nauseam. Not unenjoyable, but you need to be tolerant.
