If you're thinking of renting this film then you probably know beforehand if you're going to be entertained by a film based around the Naomi Klein book of the same name. This documentary brings the themes of disaster capitalism together well in an absorbing feature. Neoconservatives will find plenty to annoy them here - the partisan approach is unlikely to win any converts.

Just watch it! very interesting and you might learn something. At times a bit scary when you realise the world in which we live and how it operates.

This is brilliant, some scenes may shock you though... it's in the title though so can't really say I wasn't forewarned.

    Highly recommended

Flawed, convoluted, sensationalist, biased and really not up to much. Don't waste your time on this if your looking for an intelligent argument that will stand up to reflection.

  • Bias and unbalanced

This 'documentary' is more like an overly long political broadcast for the liberal democrats.

The problem with the central argument is that they do not put forward a case for government central planning, instead the problems with capitalism are paraded and the viewer is left to conclude that if capitalism has these problems then central planning must be the answer. In debating that’s known as a false dichotomy. Indeed if the documentary did a comparative history of state control they would soon find the waste, corruption and misery those systems have brought to those societies.

Given that this was released in 2009, it is interesting to note how American public opinion has shifted against Obama at the midterm elections. I guess when people saw Keynesian spending in practice they were rather less impressed.

Not the best or clearest treatise on capitalist tactics but another piece of the puzzle if you want to educate yourself, wake up and understand the world you are living in. It really is worth it not to live in fear, once you understand the influences acting upon you that affect your everyday life.
