[Highly rated reviewer]If you saw the first film then there are no surprises in the set up of the characters as they remain true to the book. The plot is good and has the usual twists and turns. Chad's somewhat laid back approach to the part has hidden depth in this film and the falshbacks are very well dealt with. I enjoyed this film very much and look forward to the next one. May even buy a copy to keep in my collection.

[Highly rated reviewer]We enjoyed 'Third Man Out' but this follow-up wasn't as good in our opinion. The acting is okay, if a little wooden in some cases, but I've seen a darn site worse in gay films over the years. The problem we found with this film was the flimsy plotline and plot development. You can see the setups a mile off and it does rather treat the viewer like a simpleton in places. Add to that, the fact the Morgan Fairchild phones her (appalling) performance in from elsewhere and you're left with a film that is watchable, but not out of the ordinary
Ho Hum... watchable but not vastly demanding.By JonathanWelfordcom (35 reviews) from Manchester , 05 Feb 2012Ho hum... read the books, which were okay beach fodder, not exactly demanding. Shame the lead actor get's acted off the screen by most of the actors who actually worked well with the clunky dialogue. Some not very subtle locker room camera shots showing buff bodies and a couple of bum shots (just to remind you that it's a gay detective movie) A scene stealing drag queen made the movie amusing.
it worked for meBy a customer , 14 Aug 2011amazingly, the acting was good and the story keeps you interested. Light and fun too. Save it for a Sunday afternnon.
Much Better Than "Third Man Out"By a customer from Wigan , 30 Oct 2010Good plot, great cast and a cracking follow up to the over acted 'Third Man Out' !!!
The subject of this film being 'Sexual Healing For Gay People'.
I suppose that this sort of 'Caveman' attitude still goes on in the 'Conservative' - 'Bible Bashing' - so called - 'Good Ol' U.S of A'.
'Shock To The System' is a much better film than the first film.
Chad Allen again plays Donald Strachey, the macho gay detective, a former soldier, drummed out of the service for being gay.
Though this time around, he plays the part much more convincingly.
Sebastian Spence as Donalds Partner, Timmy Callahan, also plays his part much better this time.
Morgan Fairchild appears, though only in a cameo role.
The banter between Detective Bub Bailey, and the other Guys at the Station is really good.
Well worth watching !!!
Shock to the systemBy anthonyb (8 reviews) from Hastings , 12 Aug 2010OK...it wasn't great but it also wasn't rubbish. A couple of charactors were a bit wooden but for a gay film it was passable and easy to watch. I think the plot and story may have been more interesting to read rather than watch. A bit of a twist at the end but come on....its a murder mystery. For an easy watch evening I'd recommend it.
