It concerns the destiny of a Canuck girl, recently relocated to Scotland after the death of her mother, after she finds a box full of walking, talking miniature animals: an eagle, a bear, a snake and a rather sneaky wolf. She discovers from an old wizard that she is 'The Chosen One' and, with the aid of her new friends, must battle against an evil Shapeshifter to find an ancient book that could hold mankind's fate in the balance.
this was really rubbish
To be fair it wasn't the movie that was disappointing. It was the fact that only one DVD of the series is provided ensuring disappointment from the children. Even when DVD 2 was provided there was no end to the story in sight. I am unsure if this is how the story ends - if so what a let down or, if there are further DVD's to borrow. However, whichever of these is the case the children and I have now lost interest in continuing with this saga. I shall ensure I don't rent movies requiring more than one DVD in future.

My kids really enjoyed this they had seen parts of it on TV and had missed a few episodes. Kept them quiet for hours.

'Shoebox Zoo' is great viewing for the whole family, I rented it for my son to watch and we all ended up watching it, bring on the next one.
My daughter watched this on the TV awhile ago, but enjoyed re-watching it just as much as the first time. Excellent effects, keeps children attention, a definite must see. Looking forward to renting the 2nd series.
I saw some of the episodes from series 1 when they were first shown on the TV but didnt get to see all or the end episodes. Not til I saw this DVD anyway. A fantastic storyline from the BBC which the whole family really can enjoy. Waiting to see series 2 now.
I know this is a kids show but its great! I watched this with my then 6 year old when it was on the BBC, but I missed the beginning, so we decided to have a Shoe Box weekend and catch up!
Its great! It really is a all round show, I wouldn't recormend it for under 5's as it can be complicated and scary in bits. But for over 5's let your imagination run wild!
It's not only a quest, its a journey of emotions for Marnie. The sad tale of her mother and her new life all entwine to make a great story.
Can't wait for the 2nd series to come on dvd!!
a must for the kids - it is so well made
missed a few installments when it was on tv mostly I was at work now me and the grandkids cant wait for the second half an enjoyable little fantasy with many twists love the animation and the figures are so endearing a must see in its entirety something to talk about when the nippers are sleeping over
