Good action flick
By Not so Silent Bob from Edinburgh , 27 Sep 2007[Highly rated reviewer]
Not Bourne but it doesn't pretend to be. Wahlberg is a great brooding action hero, adding a brain to the brawn. Though considering how clever he is in the remainder of the film he was a tad dim to fall for the conspiracy to begin with! Bring on the sequel though!- Was this review helpful to you?

i can see this a long way off
By kevil9 (120 reviews) from Glasgow , 19 Oct 2012an average rating for a film which isn't original, is predictable, is far-fetched with plot issues, a lead actor with limited range, and yet...
The shooter turns out to be fairly enjoyable for fans of this genre, probably because the front-loading or set-up of the premise and the nature of his skills keeps us viewing before it goes into wrong-man on the run/hunted turns hunter mode
And there is something about that premise that works and keeps a story bowling along, enabling it to gather momentum
Just a pity the characters or one-dimensional- just think of Danny Glover and his 'motivations' and his dialogue
It's probably the baggage we bring to this from other similar films that allow us to forgive the shooter its many weaknesses and go with the flow- Was this review helpful to you?

Murder is moral???
By sarahwri (60 reviews) , 03 Oct 2012You can forgive a lot in an action film if its exciting enough. This film fails utterly as it is boring enough to give you time to think about all the other problems with it.
One, the misogyny is standard in these kinda films but that doesn't make it alright. Two, he doesn't seem to have any moral qualms about killing/murdering fellow US soldiers. Three, the plot is just ridiculous. Four, murdering people is in fact morally good. Five, Americans clearly aren't very observant re manhunt/shopping (I hope that isn't a spoiler). Six, what's with all the murder.
I realise these may sound repetitive but there are a lot of dead people.- Was this review helpful to you?

Wahlberg should star in more movies like this
By Bondjovi (10 reviews) from Irvine , 12 Apr 2012Great action movie with an excellent lead performance from Mark Wahlberg. In my opinion, Mark Wahlberg should star in more action movies. A pivotal aspect of being deemed a good (possibly great) actor is to have the ability to make the audience believe that you really are the character you are playing and Wahlberg lives up to that in this movie for me. I particularly like the fact that there are very little if any cheesy tough-guy lines that so many actors and directors seem to think action movies require in order to make people like them, this proves that they don't. Brilliant plot and storyline involving a state of conspiracy and corruption. One criticism, however, is the choice of villains. For some reason I just can't take Danny Glover seriously as a bad guy.- Was this review helpful to you?
