Rent Black Friday instead...
By medusa from Manchester, England , 15 Aug 2007[Highly rated reviewer]
This movie is written and directed by Apoorva Lakhia who previously came up be disasters like Ek Ajnabi and Mumbai Se Aya Mera Dost. This movie could have been made good if the director did not choose to put cheesy dialogues, over the top and unnecessary violent sequences, and such an awfully loud background music...I watched this movie on my home cinema and my ears started to ache after half an hour....loud relentless thumping background music which was totally unnecessary. If you want to watch a far better movie of this genre, rent Black Friday which is such an excellent piece of film making. The director seemed to have no control over the sequences and the result was a mish mash of violent scenes with every member of the cast over acting, espcially the Oberoi chap who was struggling to look and act vicious but failed miserably. The songs were totally unnecessary inclusion in this type of movie. And Mr. Bachchan, what can I say? Some directors think that just making him work in a movie is a key to commercial success, and the result is that he has appeared in so many recent nonsensical movies including the equally pathetic presentation from Mr. Lakhia, Ek Ajnabi. Again Abhishek was put in totally unnecessary just to boost it's commercial appeal. Overall a let down, one to avoid. Watch Black Friday if you like this genre, it's a masterpiece.- Was this review helpful to you?

ShootOut!!
By a customer from Huddersfield , 26 Feb 2009This is a good flick.....I thought all the actors were used well......The film is a true adaptation of the events that occured in Mumbai (or back the Bombay) as explained in the follow up movie called 'SHOT IM BOMBAY' which you can buy from Lovefilm!!!!.....its well made and the director has kept a good eye on detail such as no mobile phones in that era.....Vivek is a revelation and works well as the street gangster.....with plenty of blood and guts it makes a good flick!!- Was this review helpful to you?

Poor
By a customer from Harrow , 25 Dec 2008Although I managed to sit through the movie, it was a poor effort. The movie was a mess. How can you take seriously gangsters who break out into song and dance after they've just violently kicked someone to death? Laughable. Watching the 'baddies' was cringe worthy. Better to watch something like Company, which is a far far superior and believable adaptation of true events. Avoid this movie unless you enjoy watching cheesy 'bad boy' acting and typical bollywood heroes.- Was this review helpful to you?
