This Jamaican Gangster film has been a cult classic for a number of years and is the Jamiacan answer to 'Boyz N the Hood'. It is a very violent but also a very good snap shot of the gang culture in Jamaica with a good story . What really makes this film special is how 'authentic' it actually is. It captures parts of the Jamaican culture (Music, language, attitude and reality) very well but ultimately has a message to tell. The film hams things up at times, and the acting is more 'BEN' Television than academy award, but this is all part of the charm of the movie. The film is pure entertainment and few films with the exception of 'Smile Orange' have aquired such underground popularity. This film has earned its stripe, and many will be so glad to finally see the official film on DVD.
I really enjoyed this film & I would imagine the scenes in around Kingston are very true to life.
The only problem I had at times was understanding the patois that was spoken, being a white non jamaican I lost the jist of the dialogue at times but well worth the watch.
If you like reggae the soundtrack is excellent as well.
