Showbiz pals of Columbo star Peter Falk are backing his wife's fight for the right to care for the actor as he battles Alzheimer's disease. Last month (Dec08), Falk's adopted daughter, Catherine Falk, filed papers claiming her father has dementia and Alzheimer's disease and can no longer care for himself. Dreamworks grand fromage Steven Spielberg has personally led the company's bid to acquire the rights to Japanese magna classic Ghost In The Shell and the legendary Jaws director now plans to turn it into a 3-D live-action thriller, according to reports. Knocked Up writer/director Judd Apatow is to be named comedy person of the year - in a good way - at a new event coinciding with Montreal's Just For Laughs comedy festival, according to reports.
