Kyle Maclachlan was stunned after watching his camp classic Showgirls for the first time - he had assumed the stripper movie would be a "hard-hitting" drama. Showgirls sequel shocks stripper star

Controversial 1995 stripper movie Showgirls is set for an encore - director Marc Vorlander has directed a sequel. Showgirls 2: The Story of Hope focuses on the death of blonde stripper Hope, played by Rena Riffel in the original, and the brother who sets out to find those responsible. Plummer sued over failed film deal

Actor Glenn Plummer has been hit with a lawsuit for allegedly pulling out of a film at the last minute. Plummer, best known for small roles in Speed and Showgirls, is being sued by movie worker Lawyer Henderson over accusations he dropped out of starring in The Governor's Daughters. Henderson claims he paid Plummer for the role and covered his travel expenses, suffering damages amounting to £31,250, according to a lawsuit filed last week (ends15May11) in Georgia and obtained by TMZ.com. Actress Gina Gershon is testing out her singing skills by releasing an album for children. The Showgirls star has previously shown off her vocal talent in Broadway musical Cabaret and is currently performing in a New York revival of Bye Bye Birdie, but she's looking to appeal to a much younger audience with the light-hearted The Good, The Bad, and The Hungry. Elizabeth Berkley and Briana Evigan have signed up to appear in S Darko, Chris Fisher's sequel to Donnie Darko.
