This follows on with our insane collection of cartoon characters all present along with the big man himself. Donkey, Cat, The Gingerbread Man et all are still on top form in this, billed as the 'Greatest Fairytale Never Told', and I couldnt 'Ogree' more, wall to wall green giggles and pure unadulterated entertainment.
Long may films, CGI and entertainment of this quality reign. I just cant help wondering why there are so many Lord Farquars on these reviews with negative views, there is nothing to be negative about in this, its just plain old good fun. What were they watching !, come on lighten up, let yourselves be entertained every now and again.
A very very high recommendation from us here, its a must see.
King Harold has just drawn his last breath and next in line to the throne is Shrek, who doesn't particularly feel comfortable with ruling a kingdom. Shrek decides to search for Arthur, Fiona's cousin and third in line to the throne to pass the honour on. In the meantime, Fiona is pregnant; and Prince Charming recruits villains from various fairy tales in an effort to take over the kingdom.
The exceptional accomplishment of the Shrek franchise has encouraged Dreamworks to once again squeeze out a tale of a one-time happy ending with 'Shrek the Third'. It was easy to journey with these characters in the original film because the animated genre is extremely compacted with clichés. But a joke can only be told so many times before it starts to wear thin.
'Shrek the Third' may still appeal to younger audiences, but that's about it as far as recommendations go. Shrek may well be starting to overstay his welcome.
After loving the first two, I was utterly disappointed by this. It's as if the writers finally ran out of films to parody, and fariytales characters to trot out. The funniest characters are woefully underused (and by that I mean the brilliant donkey & puss) and there are barely a couple of laugh out loud moments. Add to that a boring plot and youve got a frustratingly bad movie.
Fans of the series prepare to be disappointed.
alrite the first shrek movie clasic so was the second and i thought they where guna leave on on a high note at the second but they couldnt resist themselfs by making a third film im not saying it was terrible i just feel its killed the first two film. it had a lot to live up to and it just didnt peform. worth watching just dont expect nothing spectacular or else you'll be dissapionted

I just saw this movie on a recent trip back to the States. After having liked the first two, I must say, this one STANK!!!
First off, you have to start wondering to whom Dreamworks is targeting the film - I doubt many people born in the 90s or later would even get a tenth of the jokes ('we built this city... on rock and roll.') Secondly, most of the jokes (even as an adult in an adult-targeted audience) fall absolutely flat and aren't funny to begin with.
Check out rottentomatoes - I thought I was the only one who thought this but at least there are (many) others out there who agree. Save your time and money and definitely don't see this at the cinema. At the very least, manage your expectations so low that you have nothing but upside (but even then, it will simply not disappoint).
This is a good film and is very funny in places but it is not as good as Shrek & Shrek 2 but it is still well worth watching.
This is hopefully, the last episode in the Shrek saga. I enjoyed the first two instalments, especially the first, but this effort seems tired, joked out and just a vehicle to squeeze a bit more cash out of the film fan. There are a few 'smile' moments but that's about it. The animation is still excellent, apart from one piece which seemed to 'judder' (perhaps that was the projector and not the film) but in the end there has to be more than this.....and there really isn't. Shame.
Loved 1 and 2....but 3 is dull. Two laughs in the whole film...don't blink or you'll miss them! Time to give up methinks.
Next!
After the heady heights achieved by the first two installments, and the law that states that '3quels' are made for all the wrong reasons,it should come as no surprise that this movie is as flat as a medieval pancake. All the gang are back, the CGI is as good as ever, but somebody forgot to write a decent script, and the jokes are as stale as
a peasants jodphurs. Very young children might still get something out of this, but I doubt anyone one else will.
The film opens with Prince Charming performing dinner theatre and obviously seeking revenge, at the same time the king is dying and tells Shrek that he and Fiona are the heirs to the throne but there is one other that is an heir.
Hearing this, Shrek, Donkey & Puss go off to find this heir as Shrek can't handle the responsibility.
While he's gone Charming attempts to invade Far Far Away.
The montage of the events that Shrek & Fiona have to attend is quite funny and some scenes in the 3rd act made me chuckle but other then that I was not that impressed.
The first was and still is my favourite, they have been getting slowly worse with each film, one can only wonder what Shrek 4 will be like.
3 stars, save yourself some money and wait for the dvd release.
