Entertaining Family Fun
By Paul Evans from Hampshire, England , 18 Sep 2007[Highly rated reviewer]
An very enjoyable light hearted movie for a rainy day titter.
Alec Guiness is wonderfull as the astute mastermind of a gold bullion robbery and his accomplices, Stanley Holloway, Sid James and Alfie Bass are equally perfectly cast.
We were in stitches watching Stan and Alec as they get dizzy running down the Eiffel tower - great stuff.
Shame about the ending but I'll let you make your own oppinion on that one.- Was this review helpful to you?

(17)The Big Job
By Emjay69 (327 reviews) from Kidlington, Oxford , 01 Jan 2011Excellent. Thoroughly enjoyed it but...
With the extensive list of funny men taking part in the film it was surprisingly un-funny in places. Lots of good old gags and situations but not as funny as it could have been. But still watch it anyway.- Was this review helpful to you?

A forgotton classic
By a customer from Scotland , 17 Apr 2009Alec guiness's early films don't seem to get the recognition they deserve now. This little film is full of character and very cleverly told. My wife and i sat laughing at the most simple but effective scenes (the chase down the Eifel Tower! Great to just be entertained in an old fashioned way.- Was this review helpful to you?
