"...SILAS MARNER is a moving account of George Elliot's novel....Ben Kingsley gives a passionate performance..."
One of George Elliot's (Mary Ann Evans)best novels, Silas Marner is here well adapted, in the TV version starring Ben Kingsley. He is wonderful, as ever. TV classics can tend to 'date' rather quickly, but this one stands the test of time better than most. Her rich narrative is impossible to recreate, but this is a very creditable attempt at capturing the essence of the book.
This DVD is very good if you've previously read the book, but very hard going if you haven't,
