Excellent adaptationBy a customer from Derbyshire, UK , 08 Jul 2004
[Highly rated reviewer]One of George Elliot's (Mary Ann Evans)best novels, Silas Marner is here well adapted, in the TV version starring Ben Kingsley. He is wonderful, as ever. TV classics can tend to 'date' rather quickly, but this one stands the test of time better than most. Her rich narrative is impossible to recreate, but this is a very creditable attempt at capturing the essence of the book.

Silas Marner: The Weaver Of RaveloeBy a customer from Lowestoft , 02 Jun 2010A very good, if now, somewhat dated adaptation of this novel.
Ben Kinsgley was as usual faultless but felt that Patsy Kensit as his daughter was not good casting.
Silas Marner The Weaver of RaveloeBy a customer from Lytham St. Annes , 09 May 2010Good period film which my wife thoroughly loved. The poor old weaver was robbed of his stash and became a sad man. Then the death of the rich mans secret wife left him a child to look after and his life had purpose. A twist at the end as the rich man wanted his child. worth watching
Silas MarnerBy a customer from Leeds , 27 Feb 2010Enjoyable film with the lead part played by Ben Kingsley, and a young looking Patsy Kensit.
