Most helpful review
Great story, well told, and hopkins is simply glorious.
By Aaron Conway from Cardigan, wales , 18 Jan 2005[Highly rated reviewer]
These sort of crime thrillers almost always translate well into film, however, rarely does one come out so well, It's fantastically told, even a pre-16 school leaver could enjoy the convolouted plot that never becomes too thick for the action buff's or too thin for those who like a little meat in their gravy. Anthony hopkins is superb as the deliciously demented yet refined killer Hannibal 'the cannibal' Lecter, who steals the show almost unfairly from the wonderful FBI agent Clarice Starling (Jodie Foster). This is a gruesome intelligent crime thriler that will have you yelping away in a dark room on the very edge of that favourite chair, while challenging you too think a little too. This works as both a simple movie, to one that, should you wish, could be debated over a fine wine...just perhaps not a chianti.
Also see Red Dragon, the recently released prequel starring Anthony Hopkins again and Edward Norton, however avoid the movie version of Hannibal (the sequel) read the book instead.- Was this review helpful to you?

By gianino (618 reviews) from London , 28 Mar 2013Oldie but good. I've seen this before and in blu-ray it is even better. Superb acting and superb plot and direction. The best of the Hannibal trilogy and as good as Manhunter. Anthony Hopkins and Jodie Foster are incredibly amazing. This is a masterpiece that cannot be missed- Was this review helpful to you?
