This isn't the spy spoof that launched Dean Martin's Matt Helm series, and don't be fooled by the fact that there are several close encounters with Men in Black. This is sci-fi, but strictly of the third-rate kind. Director Richard Pepin clearly hoped to overcome his budgetary restrictions by recalling the alien invasion pictures of the 1950s. But neither undercover agent Jack Scalia's discovery of a plot involving government officials and an army of shape-changing ETs nor his alliance with Dennis Christopher's intergalactic troubleshooter is going to hook anyone but genre fanatics.
"...The action crashes forward....Enough dynamic-duo appeal to spark a sequel or two..."
