Mother is god in the eyes of a child

Silent Hill is almost certainly the most accurate game adaptation produced to date. Some people might dispute that many story fundamentals have been distorted from the game, and this is true to an extent, but Silent Hill has simply never been about storyline: it's always been about ambience, environment, and pushing limitations.

In the film, Rose Da Silva acts against her husband's wishes by deciding to take her troubled daughter, Sharon, to Silent Hill due to frequent sleep-walks and mutterings of the town's name. On the way, a figure unexpectedly steps onto the road, forcing Rose to swerve, crashing and getting knocked unconscious. She awakens to find Sharon missing and wanders into the fog-choked town of Silent Hill to find her daughter.

It is pure good entertainment pumped up with plenty of terrifying action without being weighed down by a heavy plot. The acting is fairly average for a horror flick but the effects are stunning. This movie will terrify and on occasion startle. Silent Hill is affluent with astounding effects that ensures the film to be an absolutely mind blowing adventure.

This dramatic thriller presents a chance to give your adrenal glands a good workout.

    Silent HILL

Really really enjoyed this film, the director kept you and the main stars completely guessing all the way through. Scary in parts; but brilliantl;y executed. Sad ending but there we are. I did not know this was a game, but took the film on its own merits. Good saturday night frightener!

Silent Hill tops as Dreamz flops

    • 24 Apr 2006

The transition of Silent Hill from video game screens to the silver screen appears to have been a success, as it knocked horror spoof Scary Movie 4 off the top of the US box office at the weekend. Radha Mitchell (Pitch Black, Phone Booth, Man On Fire) plays Rose Da Silva in the film in which a mother looks for her sick daughter in the deserted town of Silent Hill. The horror picture also stars Sean Bean (Flightplan, Troy, Lord Of The Rings). Silent Hill went in at the top of the box office,... Read more
