Not as good as I remembered...

I saw this film many years ago and was blown away by it. This time around I was less so. This is the story of Karen Silkwood who, after being contaminated with radiation, investigates the shoddy practices of her employers to their increasing consternation. She eventually dies in mysterious circumstances - was it an accident or was she murdered???

Meryl Streep is wonderful as Karen Silkwood and Cher does a great turn as her dowdy lesbian best friend. Kurt Russell is also good as Silkwood's lover. I am not sure why the whole thing did not gel for me, since the performances of the leading actors are uniformly excellent.
