interesting plot
By arun from Liverpool, UK , 08 Jun 2005[Highly rated reviewer]
So it was decided to cash on the offscreen affair between the lead couple. It was another story that it didnt set the screen ablaze.
Listen to the interesting bits of information provided by Yash Chopra who is in conversation with Karan Johar in the special features section.
It was Amitabh who actually suggested the casting.
Dekha ek kwab and yeh kahan aa gaye hum
are two gems amongst the other songs.
I didnt know that Shiv-hari, the music composers included the maestro Hariprasad Chaurasia.
Some of the scenes are really interesting to watch. Especially when Sanjeev kumar and Jayabhaduri converse about the infidelity of their respective spouses.
The scene when Jayabhaduri tries to conceal her husbands misgivings is excellent.
Amitabh has done a great job accepting a role which isnt the typical Bollywood hero stuff.
Amitabh, Jaya and Rekha have showed that they are thorough professionals.
Another feather in Yash CHopras cap- Was this review helpful to you?

Not my thing
By dumbolives (269 reviews) from Shetland , 14 Mar 2011The acting is really good in this but the plot isn't very original and I couldn't seem to get past the fact that Big B was cheating on his wife (yes, I realise they are just acting but in my mind it was just wrong). I thought the two main characters were selfish and I just couldn't sympathise with them. The ending was weird and the songs were really boring.- Was this review helpful to you?

A very interesting plot
By a customer from Ilford , 22 Apr 2008A rather passionate story. Watch out for excellent performance from Sanjeev Kumar, Amitabh and Jaya Bachan. This movie shows the difference between love and lust and sacrifice and selfishness.- Was this review helpful to you?

Even better than I remember it
By Kavita from Brighton , 19 Apr 2007I haven't this film since I was a kid, but it's aged beautifully. The alleged love triangle that was going in in real life with Bachchan and the ladies of this film no doubt adds a little spice. But this aside, the film itself is a beautiful piece of work: with a tight storyline, fine cinematography and strong performances. The highlight however has to be the wonderful music: shame about the translation though which didn't do justice to the genuinely good poetry in the film.- Was this review helpful to you?
