Not quite gold but worth silverBy blackpolekev (247 reviews) from blackpole , 30 Nov 2012
[Highly rated reviewer]Having just been released from a mental institution into the custody of his long suffering parents, Pat (Bradley Cooper) is initially such an irritating guy that I was actually hoping he would be returned there. Tiffany (Jennifer Lawrence) is equally annoying so when they meet it's clear they deserve each other. This is a story which gradually grows on you so that by the end I was rooting for Pat to succeed, not just in the dance contest which would either make or break his father, but in his relationship with Tiffany. Fine performances all round and an above average script make this so much more than a typical rom-com, and a pleasant surprise.

Another superb David O Russell dramaBy chrisfromturnpikelane (8 reviews) , 17 Jun 2013After a couple of years where his off screen behaviour threatened to overshadow his talent, David O Russell follows up The Fighter with another fantastic contemporary film about broken people on the margins overcoming great odds. Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence may have Hollywood looks but their characters are defeated. A danger to themselves and their families, they seem to be going nowhere but soon realise that they may have a fleeting chance at redemption. De Niro is the pick of a superb supporting cast, where O Russell gives them all time to shine. Just like The Fighter you will be rooting for the couple as the conclusion nears. Corny? A bit. Implausible? This is Hollywood. Worthy of its plaudits. Undoubtedly.
Lots of silver linnings hereBy Platospupil (206 reviews) , 17 Jun 2013Jennifer Lawrence steals the show (again!) and produces a performance of genius to take the lens away from the lead and give us genuine human agonies - enough to sustain the weight of the films inner leaning to be a real story. Suddenly all the portrayals make sense and the story zooms to a 30 second too long conclusion. Great.
I wouldn't bother giving this a play!By a customer , 16 Jun 2013I was expecting a quirky comedy with Oscar performances. I fell asleep halfway through. The last 30 mins is half decent but really, this thinks it is too worthy and I agree with another reviewer that it is astonishing Jennifer Lawrence won an Oscar for this. Both stars have been in better films. Just dull.

Good not great !!By a customer , 16 Jun 2013Enjoyable, but I think my expectations were high. Still was a good film with some laughs in it. Also a great supporting cast to boot.
More Than a Rom-ComBy a customer , 15 Jun 2013Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Coopers paformance in Silver Lining Playbook are beautiful. This film is deffently more than a rom-com, the way the depth of relationship is build is a joy to watch! Think it does a good job of showing how we all have 'issues' and the ways inwhich we 'deal' with them. Im a huge fan of music used well in movies and the sound track is spot on! Really loved it
