[Highly rated reviewer]Having just been released from a mental institution into the custody of his long suffering parents, Pat (Bradley Cooper) is initially such an irritating guy that I was actually hoping he would be returned there. Tiffany (Jennifer Lawrence) is equally annoying so when they meet it's clear they deserve each other. This is a story which gradually grows on you so that by the end I was rooting for Pat to succeed, not just in the dance contest which would either make or break his father, but in his relationship with Tiffany. Fine performances all round and an above average script make this so much more than a typical rom-com, and a pleasant surprise.

Awful, So disappointed.By a customer , 14 Jun 2013I was really looking forward to this film after all the hype but I was sooo disappointed. The film lacked any kind of descent storyline or depth of any kind. The actors were bad...really. I can't believe Jen Lawrence got an oscar, are they just dishing these out to anyone these days??? Poor Poor film, the only good thing about it was Bob De Niro but that goes without saying.

Great cast, good filmBy Sir_BobbyDazzler (3 reviews) from Swindon , 14 Jun 2013After all the awards, the amazing cast, I think my expectations were too high. Whilst the story is a difficult one to tell and it is fantastic that it is being told, not a lot happens and it's predictable.
Heart-Warming StuffBy phealy02 (2 reviews) , 13 Jun 2013This movie is a refreshingly different take on the 'RomCom' formula. Boy meets girl... girl has issues (that's she's not afraid to shout about!)... boy has even more issues - that he's desperately trying to overcome, or at least ignore. There roles are acted very well, there are a lot of good comedy moments, and a nice little 'twist' at the end. Heart-warming stuff minus the usual Hollywood syrup!
Good acting, not much of a movie.By lecolexo (2 reviews) , 13 Jun 2013This is a great movie and I understand the awards it received in a sense, the actors were amazing. But still I can't help but feel I expected to feel a buzz or a see some laughs, but it's not a comedy. There are some bits that made you laugh, well mumble a laugh, but the rest (Although very well acted and directed) is slow, soft and quite sad. Based on Bradleys character leaving a 'Mental Hospital' since having a 'breakdown' and his wife leaving (having had an affair). He had undiagnosed bipolar. Good story, great acting ~ just not what a lot of us thought it would be.
more like bronze than silverBy chasckd (575 reviews) from Telford , 11 Jun 2013nothing to shout about considering who was starring in this film and the acting was not exactly brilliant definitely room for improvements
