Viktor Taransky (Al Pacino) is a washed-up Hollywood film director desperately trying to rescue his latest film from failure. His answer is to cast Simone, an ultra-realistic computer-generated actress, in the lead role. The film and Simone herself are both instant hits with the public, but rather than revelling in the novelty of her digital status, Viktor refuses to let on that his actress is a simulation, and instead produces interviews and hologrammatic public appearances to feed the illusion that she is a real, living human being. However, when Viktor tires of his creation and tries to kill her off, he discovers that the cult of Simone has grown beyond his control.

Nice little movie i ...

Nice little movie i enjoyed it.good story...a bit far fetched but that's what movies are all about to take you to the surreal.Nice ending too.

Brilliant, yeah !

One of those surreal gems - but then I've always been a fan of Stepford-style movies.

Very easy watching, interesting storyline, and amazingly gripping to think the authorities thought he had KILLED someone who doesn't even exist !

Should be more movies like this.

An amusing fantasy exploring where we might be going with celebrity and cinema. Not a great art film but easy viewing for a Friday night.

Fantastic movie, loved it. Al Pacino is amazing as are the supporting cast. Definitely worth renting. Interesting that this concept today isn't so unusual!

I was suprised that we both enjoyed simone. Although it wasnt riveting it kept you watching. But Al Pacino is very watchable no matter what he is in. Could have been more special technology in the film.

S1mply One-derful

I first saw this on a flight across the Atlantic and always meant to see it again - but ona screen bigger tha the back of the seat headrest in front! I was not disappointed. It kept me glued to my seat on the aircaft and did so again at home. Womderfully acted, an original (and not too unbeleivable plot) - a fairytale for the 21st Century. The plot, whiclt in the realms of science fiction although I suspect not for long given technology, it was a tale of gullibility and the Hollywood hype that cons us all from time to time. A cross between Pinochio and the Eemporer's New Clothes (with a splash of Copellia thrown in). Thoroughly recommended.
