This rousing spectacle from Dreamworks follows Sinbad (Brad Pitt) and his band of pirates, who rob and pilfer their way through ancient times. Naturally this rogue will be redeemed, and the wheels go into motion when the Book of Peace, a hot property guarded by his good friend Proteus (Joseph Fiennes) and wanted by Eris, the evil goddess of chaos (Michelle Pfeiffer), winds up stolen. Sinbad is sent on a journey to return the book to its rightful owner, which means sailing to the uncharted waters of Eris' kingdom, through oceans laden with monsters and dangers at every turn. Stowing away for the ride is Proteus' beautiful and feisty fiancee Marina (Catherine Zeta Jones). Her presence allows for plenty of bickering and tortured romance in between the suspense and action-packed set pieces, which involve (among other things) tentacled sea serpents, sharks, and ghostly sirens. The animation is stunning: CGI effects merge with conventional 2D animation for ravishing, almost 3D results. Pfeiffer has fun hamming to heights not seen since she played Cat Woman in BATMAN RETURNS, and adults will definitely relish the smidgeon more sensuality and violence than usual. The clever script by John Logan (GLADIATOR) provides such a wealth of jaw-dropping spectacle, cathartic action, and cheeky humour that the whole family should find SINBAD a fun voyage.

This thoroughly enjoyable mix of swashbuckling action and Arabian Nights-style fantasy from DreamWorks demonstrates that there's still plenty of mileage in good old-fashioned storytelling. The adventure follows scallywag Sinbad (voiced by Brad Pitt) and his crew as they try to retrieve the powerful Book of Peace from conniving goddess Eris (Michelle Pfeiffer). Although some of the animation, like the plotline, is a tad basic, the stops are pulled out for the set pieces that include a glorious sea sequence with seductive sirens and an exciting escape from a giant bird of prey. However, for all the film's Boys' Own ambience, it's the two women characters who dominate — Pfeiffer makes a fabulously sinister villain while Catherine Zeta-Jones's stowaway, Marina, sets a strong and sassy example to young female viewers.
Divesting the Sinbad legend of any tricky Arabic trappings in favour of a vaguely Greco-Roman orientation, DreamWorks'... read more on Time Out
Kids will love this film. I have to say that it's not in the same league as the films made by Disney. Yes the story is good but it just seem to lack something which disney Films seem to have. Having said all of this my kids loved it and i am sure it will be on their Christmas list to Santa.
Kids will enjoy this great story, animations could be better, lacks the lustre of Disney, but still very enjoyable.
