    Worthy, but worthless

Sorry but this could have been done so much better.

As an average reader I already knew more about, and could have explained better, about Conan-Doyle's life than the ultra-bland documentary which properly belongs being played in the corner of a visitors centre somewhere. Add to that that it actually made some glaring errors in places (sorry folks, but 'Scandal in Bohemia' is such a well known story there is absolutely no excuse for the sriptwriter who clearly hadn't bothered to actually read it.) Plus a title 'the real Sherlock Holmes' which bore little relation to reality, or to the script, and huge and interesting parts of CD's writing that didn't get a mention - 5 seconds on 'Life on a Greenland Whaler', not a mention of Professor Challenger.

For my money, go and buy a couple of collected volumes of Conan-Doyle and you'll get 100 times the benefit you would from watching this exercise in blandness.

    Sir Arthur Conan Dull

Not his life, just the documentary. It takes ages to get to the point and the images are pretty boring as well with no interviews whatsoever. Good for people interested in Doyle but nothing new here.

Jude Law could be set to take the role of Doctor Watson in Guy Ritchie's forthcoming Sherlock Holmes adaptation. Ritchie is helming the project which is based on an as-yet-unpublished graphic novel take on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's famous sleuth. Iron Man star Robert Downey Jr has already signed up to take the lead role in the movie, with recent reports initially suggesting that Russell Crowe was being considered for his sidekick Watson. However Ritchie denied such speculation at the premiere of Read more
