Whoopi Goldberg returns as Deloris Van Cartier, who, at the film's opening, has become a successful Vegas headliner, belting out undeniably cheesy medleys of R&B hits. The nuns she shielded her identity from in the first film arrive to beg her to help them revitalize their San Francisco Catholic school. Deloris is persuaded to put her Sister Mary Clarence costume back on and work with a bunch of undisciplined street kids as the school's music teacher.

Whoopi Goldberg returns as Las Vegas cabaret singer Deloris, who dons her Sister Mary Clarence habit to teach music to a bad-attitude class at a run-down high school. This OK sequel resembles a cross between To Sir with Love and Fame, and Goldberg delivers the good-education/family-values/follow-your-dream messages with likeable enough charm. But the familiar nuns just want to have fun concept is treated in heavy-handed fashion by director Bill Duke and the chorus nuns from the original film are disappointingly relegated to mere background. Still, the musical sequences are lively enough and Maggie Smith gives her usual sterling support.
Distressingly dire comedy, sickly and silly; it is smug and patronizing in its attitudes to the problems of inner-city life and not at all amusing.
bla bla bla bla bla bla baaaaaaaaaaaa bla lba bla bla bla bla bla vamm voo va.!!!well done whoopi
I think this film is awesome. It's a brilliantly feel good tale of poverty and sturuggle finding a niche, working hard at it and succeeding in a way they never dreamt possible. A sort of 'glitzy/whoopi' version of Mr Hollands Opus. And, just listen to Ryan Toby sing 'Oh Happy Day'!. The note he hits made me almost choke on my bagel.
Love whoopi! Love Kathy Najimy! LOVEE Maggie smith. go watch. now
