Consistently intelligent, touching, real.By Duncan Toms from Cornwall, UK , 22 Feb 2004
[Highly rated reviewer]There aren't many TV series like this around. It could have turned out depressing, given the theme of the show, but the varied characters and interwoven stories keep a kinetic energy flowing throughout, whilst touching on subjects that affect us all. The characters are varied, believable and involving, and the script tight and often surprising in its direction, especially the dialogue with dead characters. The most appealing aspect for me is the learning process the family are going through, none of whom are stagnating. A refreshing 'unAmerican' American programme.

Amazing!By a customer from Scotland , 26 Oct 2008dark, funny and real.
Six starsBy PhillyG (6 reviews) from Bournemouth , 29 Sep 2008I'm so glad I didn't see it first time around as I can now feast on this seductive series. The depth is incredible; sensitive storytelling - the surreal meets the sublime. All the human tragedy and comedy is laid bare. An intense, beautifully acted experience that is always convincing and compulsive. Essential viewing!

Six Feet Under Series 1By MissKinkyBoots (19 reviews) from Brora , 12 Aug 2008I loved this the first time around - watching the first series again reminded me why - superb direction, clever camera shots, great casting, most uncomfortable in places.......very true to life disfunctional families/relationships.....excellent stuff!!! Looking forward to working my way through the next 4 series!!!
Loved itBy a customer from London , 10 Jul 2008Great series, missed it first time around but everyone said it was really good so finally able to see it. American but not too much so, a bit sentimental and mawkish at times (or I would have given it 5 stars) but then what do you expect from America? Apart from that it is wonderful - great characters, who are quirky and believable and interesting, story lines that are generally fairly unafraid and honest. Looking forward to watching series 2!
