A great series of one of the best TV shows aroundBy James from England , 09 Sep 2005
[Highly rated reviewer]Few shows combine maturity, depth and originality on TV. Six Feet Under, the HBO show concerning the lives of a family firm of funeral home owners, manages this in such a realistic, hard-hitting yet tender way that each new series is like meeting up with old friends, and it has quickly become my favourite TV program.
This series raises the already ludicrously high bar set by the previous seasons. It starts off leisurely enough, setting the scene, with Nate adjusting to his new life following surgery, Claire and David feeling their ways through changes in their own lives and Ruth still trying to hold everyone together.
But the tensions quickly build up: tempers fray; resentments rise to the surface; and a series of shocking developments propel the series into full-blown drama.
By the end, anyone not affected by the incredible storylines (acted, scripted and directed better than anything else on television) must surely be ready to check into the Fishers' funeral home already.
I simply can't recommend this enough.

Down, Down, Deeper and DownBy LittleFrank (26 reviews) , 20 Jul 2012The opening scene of the first episode and the final scene of the last episode have the 'wow' factor, but in between the idea that all of the characters are somehow 'on the ledge' and having to make a 'leap of faith' becomes a bit dull.
The major 'reveal' in episode 1 feels like it was 'a good idea at the time' but then goes nowhere and is resolved unsatisfactorily, as if the writers realise that they may have gone down the wrong path to begin with.
Similarly, Ruth's story arc borders on the ridiculous, but there is clearly potential from the consequences for Series 4 and possibly even Series 5 (both of which I have yet to see)
Overall, a 'holding' series and a major dip from the high quality maintained through Series 1 and 2.
Good but....By Deccer (26 reviews) from Cardiff , 07 Jun 2010I liked this series, but not as much as the first two. Found the Claire and her Art story starting to bore me by half way through.
Six feet under- the complete thirdBy a customer from Weymouth , 17 Feb 2010Another strong series from this funeral parlour. Just like before missed this lot but still liked it.
I'm hookedBy a customer from Stroud , 04 Jul 2009I'm just in love with all the characters and am genuinely interested in what happens to them.
cheekyBy a customer from Brighton , 24 Nov 2008first 2 discs lulled me into a false sense od security, slower pace and lots of 'nice-ness' then whoah, it all kicked off!!! up to teh high standards of series 2
