enjoyable fantasyBy a customer from london , 06 Apr 2005
[Highly rated reviewer]comic fairytale of a girls overlooked sixteenth birthday.
under the shadow of her elder sisters wedding molly ringwalds all important aniversary is forgotten by her family.
she is taken up by lack of magical cheast growth and her love for school hunk jake.
lets just say i wish my life had ever worked out quite like sixteen candles but this is still a highly enjyable flick, don't take it to seriously though.
watch out for anthony michael hall as the geek and john cusack as one of his mates ( lovin the homoerotisism there).

total 80sBy a customer , 06 Nov 2013Brings back memories...totally 80s. yes it's crass, cheesy and pointless but that was the 80s. It is just an easy to watch enjoyable and nostalgic film.
I love Jake Ryan... and this whole film actually :-)By a customer , 13 Sep 2013A classic film from the 80's that's still got a lot going for it today. Imagine if your whole family forgot your sixteenth birthday, if your grandparents kept embarrassing you as you are going through certain changes, and if the guy you were in love with didn't even know you existed. Well, there was a lot of that about in the eighties, and Sixteen Candles captures it perfectly. Some of the high school gags may be a little dated and the situations hopelessly contrived, but there is so much here that everyone will recognise. It really invokes all the teenage angst that you can take. Molly Ringwald is perfect as the put-upon teenager who is having a devastatingly bad day, and Michael Schoeffling is the perfect as heart-throb Jake Ryan who scares her to death when he even looks her way. After this film you can even go out buy the t-shirt which proudly declares 'I Love Jake Ryan' :-) At the very least I guarantee you be quoting some classic lines in your head for days. My favourite? 'Automobiiiiiiille!'
Maybe You Had To Be There?By Roddenberry (40 reviews) from Bristol , 06 Jul 2013Didn't enjoy this at all, maybe this is a film that nostalgia thrives on and if I'd seen it when released, I'd have some emotional attachment.
oh dearBy a customer , 16 Apr 2013I found this pretty crass and couldn't be bothered to watch it to the end. Maybe it improved. Others seem to have enjoyed it.
Good 80s MovieBy a customer , 13 Apr 2012This 80S Teen flick was very funny, but dragged on. Plus was abit too fariytale for my tatse , by how certain events wouldnt ever happen in real life situations. Overall my thoughts were okay with this movie. This is the kind of movie you watch once and love it but the second time will drag and become boring.
