Found the film to be a little slow, however if you like true stories, one to watch, shows the the ignorance of racism and narrow-mindedness.- Was this review helpful to you?

(23)Disappointing casting
By Margee (12 reviews) , 12 Feb 2012It could have been so much better if the casting had been different. How could the young, pretty, alert Sandra grow up into looking and acting like Sophie Okonedo who gave a wooden, unconvincing performance of her struggle between her cast and familial love? Sadly this flawed portrayal spoil the film for me.- Was this review helpful to you?

Amazing True Story
By a customer , 08 Feb 2012Loved this movie, it was like finding out Sandra wanting to know where she fitted in. It is such a shame though in this day and age racism, bigtory still stands in parts of this world!!!- Was this review helpful to you?

Lovely heartfelt movie..
By Lionness (5 reviews) , 28 Apr 2011I loved this film. I was very moved by how brutal humans can be in the face of ignorance and bigotry. The film showed thes disgusting South African governments policies and ridiculous laws and the extent of humanity how far humans can go with each other regardless of relation. This film was great I could relate to it and empathise with the characters within the film. When one does not know or understand their own identity it can be a harrowing experience and can cause disjointment possibly negative resentful emotions. If you are not emotionally moved by this film, to identify with race, family, motherhood, race relations and equality of all human beings....then I'm afraid this is not for you. For those who like something of substance and to issues which affect us all today..directly or indirectly within a realistic modern model...then you will appreciate this movie. The bond between mother and child is amazing and beautiful...beautiful true story.- Was this review helpful to you?
