You couldn't ask for more from an action film.
Sky High certainly opens promisingly, the first act brings with it some powerful images. Sadly the rest of the movie appears happy to move at a very slow pace and though interesting themes are certainly raised they are themes we have explored time and time again. Life after death, redemption, revenge, reincarnation, that kind of thing.
The film ambles along as the cast sit and contemplate their future, it isn't until the final act that the film makers attempt to step it up a gear, Sky High resorts to fantasy swordplay and martial arts in order to restore interest. At first the action is fleeting and uninspiring but things certainly do improve in the final act, though the action lacks the flow, style and flair of recent martial arts movies.
It's all pretty watchable stuff but if the sky is the limit then this is a movie that rarely leaves the ground.
Promising stuff for fantasy movie fans, but ultimately very average.
The 2nd DVD in this series has no subtitles ands only one soundtrack. Disappointed. Hopefully DVD1 will have the subbed version on there. Didn't last ten minutes till it was back in th e postbox.
