Naked nonsense

Just couldn't engage with this film. The only feelings about it I can recall are; weirdness throughout, and revulsion and and creepiness from time to time. For me the whole thing was totally pointless. Because of the content of the film you will of course get a lot of pretentious tosh about it's artistic merits, I didn't find any. Neither in spite of the leading character being naked most of the time is it in any way erotic. It was a complete waste of time- Was this review helpful to you?

Flawed but interesting with a stand out performance.

It has many delicious moments and ideas but likes to keep it's distance in terms of really letting you in the head of Lucy. It hints at an insight, we see her break down, maybe even fall in love but we are never sure of who she is and where she'll end up. There are many holes in the plot too which ultimately take a star away from this film. The one reason to watch this movie is Emily Browning who is simply fantastic as Lucy. It's brave cinema and an extremely brave performance in some particularly uncomfortable scenes. It's worth noting, practically every scene is filmed wide and in one long take. An interesting movie that's not for everyone but definitely worth a watch.- Was this review helpful to you?
