'The Blob' with intelligence
By JediSi (301 reviews) from Kent , 17 Aug 2007[Highly rated reviewer]
When I first saw the DVD cover it grabbed my attention and made me read the synopsis. 'It's got ptential' I thought. I only hoped it wouldn't disappoint. It didn't. It's sickly funny with some cracking special effects. I really can't understand why this film has been slated so much, there's much worse out there (anything Chad Goymer from Kent likes is well worth avoiding (clueless work colleague)). Give it a go, it's gory, it's funny and you may just like it.- Was this review helpful to you?

(231)Classy stuff
By ProudSquirrel (5 reviews) , 15 Mar 2012Slimey, silly, Southern - it's all a bit much for Elizabeth Banks when her husband becomes the host of an alien parasite with some weird whims. Good fun and actually rather original, this reviewer never thought the film would be particularly gripping or exciting but got sucked in to the story anyway. Lovely performances played seriously for bigger laughs and the alien just gets more disgusting for those 'ew' moments.- Was this review helpful to you?

Slither? No, more like sloppy.
By Platospupil (203 reviews) , 30 Nov 2011OK .. I know, I know but ... really? Just not. There are so many things which could not be today but for this piece of silliness but .. surely it could at least have taken itself seriously enough to develop an understandably risible plot? No? Well, OK.
Only good for background while you chat over it .. but I think they intended more.- Was this review helpful to you?

Only for hardcore B-movie fans
By idris786 (51 reviews) from Halifax, England , 09 Aug 2011I am a big fan of comedy, and found very little of it in this movie. The plot was ridiculous. I wouldn't waste my time if I were you unless you're a harcore B-movie fan.- Was this review helpful to you?

Give it a try :)
By DrFirestone (10 reviews) from Chorley , 26 Jan 2011Surprisingly enjoyable horror/comedy/s-f mix. I can surely recommend this film to anyone who appreciates dark humour, gore and horror elements :)- Was this review helpful to you?

Different!Nearly puked! Nice! Film has its moments!
By a customer from UK , 20 May 2010This is an okay film, but not sure how many people will think its the best film ever.Suppose thats not the point, it is pretty much a B movie type movie and isnt trying to be the best film ever. For me if suffers a bit in trying to set up the small town backstory, I can only presume the scriptwriter used to work on daytime soap opera in OZ in the 1970s, based upon the clunky lines the poor actors had to use. I just dont think its that essential in a film where you are basically waiting to see gross stuff flying around all over the place.( A bit like the talking bits on those softcore rude films on cheapo cable channels), no one cares, get to the good bits. Bit slow to start, but it picks up the pace later.I recommend renting it because there is a particularly challenging part of the film to watch, I nearly brought my dinner back up about three hours after I ate it. On that basis alone, I must encourage others to watch it. Also a chance to see the girl from the americian Version of the office in a small role. Nice lyrics to the closing song as well. Its no Shaun or Braindead,or Planet terror, but if you like them films you will almost certainly get something out of this one.- Was this review helpful to you?
