Slumdog Millionaire continued its trophy-winning streak as the film's costume designer Suttirat Larlarb took home a top honour at the Costume Designers Guild Awards on Tuesday (17Feb09). Slumdog Millionaire star suggested by director's daughter

Dev Patel won his part in the Danny Boyle film Slumdog Millionaire after the director's daughter saw him on TV. Boyle stated that he was struggling to find a young actor to portray the film's lead character Jamal Malik as all of the candidates were too muscular. "I thought, 'That doesn't look right for the film, he's meant to be an underdog.' You're meant to think, 'What's this guy got? Nothing apparently'," he added. The Oscar-winning producers of SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE are to create a musical version of the movie - to provide financial help for the children depicted in the film. The Hindustan Times reports producer Christian Colson is working on a stage musical of the film to raise funds for Mumbai's slum kids.
