Most helpful review
good effort.
By Daniel Johnson from Lon, UK , 29 Jun 2004[Highly rated reviewer]
A seemingly lower scale Woody effort at first; but.. I dunno, the story grows in stature and scope as it goes along, because far more than the general beginning suggests. Raises issues of class distinction; drawing lines between interests and pretentiousness... and wondering whether maybe being a crook is just as meaningful an existance. Worth seeing!- Was this review helpful to you?

(17)Allen at his best
By a customer from East of England , 30 Aug 2009A story of stupid people trying to hit big bucks through crime. They fail spectacularly but the big time comes their way via Frenchy, the wife of the lead character (he's so dim, I've forgotten his name) played by Woody Allen. The script is very funny indeed but why on earth does Alllen think he's leading man material? He's really a two paper bag job isn't he??- Was this review helpful to you?

Lots of fun
By AnthonyG (48 reviews) from London , 10 Feb 2009Nothing too sophisticated - but tons of fun for some undemanding viewing.

Classic Woody
By a customer from UK , 02 Feb 2009This is Allen returning to his old school humour. Its a great rags to riches story with some moral dilemmas thrown in. Tracy Ullman puts in a great performance as well. I've almost forgotten that she's English.- Was this review helpful to you?

Small Time Crooks
By a customer from Bridgend , 28 Jan 2009Disappointing, even for Woody Allen fans.
Although there are some funny moments, I didn't feel as if the movie had any direction.- Was this review helpful to you?

Disappointing
By a customer from Surrey , 12 Dec 2008A couple of laugh out loud lines but otherwise distinctly mediocre and Allen does not help the film by being his predicatable tedious self. There are better Woody films than this, with and without him acting in them.- Was this review helpful to you?
