The Superman myth has always been magical and heroic, but little has been written about Clark Kent's small-town life as a teenager growing up in Smallville. While he comes to terms with being a high-flying superhero he still has adolescence to contend with and never before has Superman been so cool and hip. Featuring newcomers .. Read more

    born again teenager

Let me just say, I hate Dawson's Creek, The OC, One Tree Hill, and all those other teen dramas but I can now appreciate their appeal as I absolutely love Smallville!!

It's my escape from the real world and brings me back to being a teenager and watching those movies over and over again. Not so kitch as the films but ultimately more engrossing as you watch to see what other powers Clark finds he has and how he controls them.

Fantastic viewing with superb supporting and cameo roles from original cast.

    Smallville at its best

This was the season that truly got me hooked on Smallville and the Superman mythos, with an increased budget and more experienced actors than Season 1, Smallville returns, introducing Clark to more enemies and powers with alot more Special Effects added in... You'll love it

    Still Super

I find it hard to explain just how good this series is. This is the first time I have literally been waiting at the door for the next disc to arrive, and then find myself watching 2 or 3 episodes a night. Great story lines also have common themes running through them which leave you trying to anticipate the next thing to happen. There is a good 'love-triangle' going on with Clarke, Lana and Chloe, (even though it is a little one-sided towards Lana on Clarke's part, which often leaves Chloe looking a bit teary-eyed). Personally, I think he'd do well with either of the two girls. Season 4 should be good with the arrival of Lois Lane!!

I would recommend this series to anyone who likes a bit of sci-fi adventure and who is also into the original superman films. I am unable to wait for the release of series 3 and find myself currently bidding for a copy on ebay so that I can continue viewing when I send the last disc back!

One of the best things on TV/DVD

I absolutely love Smallville. A superb cast with possibly the best looking female lead - Kristin Kreuk, and i'm sure the ladies aren't disappointed with Tom Welling as the young superhero. The interaction between the characters is just as important as the action scenes in this series. Always briliant and sometimes genuinely moving. It's not going to lose a star for the plethora of Hallmark moments, as I know the writers are trying to teach us all better morals, and in this day and age, we need that. A special mention for the broken-hearted Chloe, brilliantly played by Allison Mack, who manages to smile and look sad at exactly the same time. I always love the little hints as to Clarks future alter-ego. I hope this series runs and runs, it certainly deserves to.

    A winner from America

It is always difficult to review a series but, with one this good, it has to be tried.

Series 2 takes off where the first series ends, on prom night with Lana Lang (Kreuk) airborne in a truck courtesy of an inconvenient tornado. Cue Clarke Kent (Welling) to save her and kick off the series in a spectacular fashion.

This series still concentrates on super sized growing pains rather than Clarke’s powers but has rather less in the way of freakish events compared to the first series and also spends a reasonable portion of time charting Lex Luther’s slow descent towards the dark side. Brilliantly played by Rosenbaum it is the extra time devoted to the Luther’s which really make this series stand out.

If you haven't tasted the joys of 'Smallville' yet it is time to get off your high horse, rent that 1st series and settle in to watch something that the Americans do better than the 4 X 100m relay.

    OK, So I'm a Fanboy

I don't know why I'm such a fan of this show. A lot of the episodes are as predictable as rain in Glasgow -- boy meets kryptonite, result menacing/pathetic freak. Clark sorts it all out, and doesn't get the girl.

But I couldn't wait to get this disc to see the resolution to the end of Season 1's cliffhanger, even if the cliff they're hanging from is about a foot high and I could have written it almost word-for-word myself. I was the same way about Buffy.

I highly recommend this DVD for people who really, really like shows about teenagers with secret super powers. If that's not your cup of tea, better give it a miss.

    Clark Kent comes of age

A fantastic series and one which highlights the 'darker' nature of whats to come. The on/off love triangle's will keep you hooked although a real lack of 'baddie' characters may disappoint some. However this series concentrates on Clarks friends, family and ultimately, his quest to find out about himself. A brilliant cameo from a famous character only adds to the appeal of this fantastic show. More of the same please!

    superseries superteen

Smallville does not only concentrate on the drawbacks of being a super hero in a modern world, but the day to day struggle of being a teenager. Trying to hide his ablilities from people he has everyday dealings with.

This conficting struggle clarke trying to hide and at the sametime wanting to share his secret with such people as Lana, is what keeps me facinated and gripped every season. I must watch over and over again.
