Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer display their own inimitable brand of anarchic and surreal comedy in a set containing both series of THE SMELL OF REEVES AND MORTIMER. Having switched from Channel 4 to the BBC in 1993, the duo introduced a host of new characters for their loyal fan base. These included the spoof folk duo Mulligan .. Read more

Not my kind of humor did not enjoy it at all.
Watching this is like excavating Patrick Moore's brain and then saddle riding a badger round the crevasses of an interstellar super-nova! Pure genius of the highest form. Utter randomnity concentrated down into a drug so powerful, even Keith Moon only took a half! Watch this or miss out on the most beautiful side of comic madness since... the world was conceived, you heathens!
Surprisingly bad! Used to love this program, obviously i'm a bit older now.
But there is good news in disc 2 i'm happy to say
V & B are almost up to their best (which of course was Big Night out) with this. My only complaint is the canned BBC laughter. Otherwise, BRILLIANT.
Disc 2 of this Series is a breath of fresh air compared to the first.
Imaginative,inovative, and funny!

if you like totally non-sensical comedy, this is for you.
this is just 2 blokes talking random nonsense and its GREAT!
REAL SLAPSTICK, STUPID COMEDY.
Vic and Bob continue their crack-pot careers with this gem. They blew the boundries for comedy and opened the door for other crazies to get on TV. If these genius' hadn't done it, there probably would'nt have been any Boosh. Imagine that! A world with no Boosh.
Cheers Vic, cheers Bob. By the way I heard there's a fight at donkey. Better get down there.
'I LOVE THE SMELL OF MANURE , I LOVE THE SMELL OF THE POOR 'are just two lines from one of vic and bobs opening songs .
THE SMELL OF REEVES AND MORTIMER : THE COMPLETE COLLECTION is a fantastic collection of both series one and two of the madcap duos first outing at the BBC ,it is a lot swifter and better written with a proper size budget compared to its C4 predacesor VIC REEVES BIG NIGHT OUT and a lot funnier than its sequel BANG BANG ITS REEVES AND MORTIMER .
if you only rent one dvd rent STAR WARS if you rent two rent THE SMELL OF REEVES AND MORTIMER
For those whose comedy tastes rest somewhere in between some kind of psychedelic nightmare and low brow slapstick - Reeves and Mortimer are a wet dream. Pure genius in every way... bizarre, hilarious and rediculous. Get this out - or I'll come and get you.

.. i remember this as family viewing ..the opening and closing songs ...very Morcambe and Wise...especially ' i love the smell of...' complete silliness, and the 'mainstream' BBC Two debut(?)
..A very much tamer 'Big Night Out' ?.(.say the cognecenti)
...go straight from this to 'Bang Bang...' which ups the ante considerably...
'Fun Fun Fun'
