Old School Kung Fu
By Guy from York , 05 Apr 2005[Highly rated reviewer]
I absolutely love old kung fu films and I've recently watched quite a few of Jackie Chan's early offerings. To be honest this is a decent enough film, the fight scenes are worth watching, but nothing really special or outstanding.
If you really want a good old kung fu film check out Drunken Master or Young Master, both Jackie Chan films, but with much better stories and fights.
Overall this film is definately average, containing all the bad stereotypes of bad dubbing, dodgy beards and poor acting, leading to something that may amuse you for a while if you like that sort of thing, but if your new to this sort of film, there are better ones out there.- Was this review helpful to you?

By SteVB (29 reviews) from Leeds , 12 May 2009The movie that introduced me to classic martial arts movies, and just happened to launch Jackie Chan into stardom.
Very original for it's time, charismatic, well choreographed and an excellent display of martial arts.
In short, everything you want from the genre.- Was this review helpful to you?

Good old fashion Kung Fu film.
By a customer from Bracknell, England , 28 Nov 2006If you are a fan of Jackie Chans older films, such as Drunken Master and Shaolin Chamber of Death, I'd recommend this film.
Jackie's training sequences are as cruel as ever, however the fight scenes come across as extremely cheesy. Including the horrifically funny cat screeching noises.
If you have a sense of humour, and can laugh at cheesyness, this is for you. Otherwise, I wouldn't recommend this film for you. :)- Was this review helpful to you?
