Do you like The Rock?By TheWatchman (753 reviews) from Suburbia , 02 Nov 2013
[Highly rated reviewer]Apparently, thats the question you need to ask yourself before watching this. There are mixed reviews about Snitch and whether theyre good or bad seem to depend on how much you like the actor (now better known as Dwayne Johnson). Yes, he didnt start out as an actor, instead he was a wrestler. However, after numerous films of various genres, the jury is still out as to whether or not he can actually act. If you think he can, youll probably like this. If you think he cant, probably best to steer clear. Here, Rock Johnson plays a father whose estranged son is convicted of a drugs offence and so he has to help out the authorities bring the culprits to justice in order to get his sons sentence reduced. If youve seen any of Dwayne Rocks other movies then youll probably expect a fair amount of action and fighting. However, if thats what youre looking for then youll probably be sorely disappointed. Here, theres more to do with drama and tension than all out scrapping. And, I think it worked. There are plenty of pretty tense scenes when you will be wondering whether someone major is going to go wrong. All the characters are good yes, The Johnson may not be the most accomplished actor, but hes not having to recite Shakespeare here, merely being a tough father interacting with various drugs cartels a task which I think hes more than capable of pulling off. Plus you have Susan Sarandon an actress who you might not normally expect to star opposite The Dwayne. Snitch does have a bit of a made for TV feel about it, but its A-list cast elevates it to something worth watching, which it is. Dont expect action, just tension. Also its apparently based on a true story. But then Ive heard that before about Hollywood films, so I just look at it as some fun fiction.

It's not a "rock solid" choice.By MarkyMark1010 (1 review) , 17 Dec 2013If you're expecting an action-fest as Dwayne Johnson stars in this, then guess again. A woefully ponderous and tension-free movie, how a film of barely 90 minutes could feel so long is beyond me. I've given this a 'generous' two as the acting is adequate, in fact, DJ shows that he doesn't always need to get his shirt off, he can act a bit, the supporting cast is a group of solid actors, oh and nice to see 'Omar' turn up in another gangsta role. This could and should have been a lot, lot better.
A decent watchBy TechnoHippy (108 reviews) , 13 Dec 2013I like watching The Rock in action, he makes a good action star he has the bulk, moves well and is able to deliver the lines. While this film is billed as an action film it does have more development than his usual films and he carries it off well. It's apparently inspired by true events, although I have no idea how closely it relates to those vents, but the film tells the story of a man who's son gets arrested for a open and shut drugs trafficking case. In an effort to free his son he makes a deal with the DA to exchange hi sentence for bigger fish. Naturally things get out of hand and that's where the action element of the film comes in. It's more of a thriller than all out action and unusually you don't get to see any hand to hand action that he's so good at. He plays the businessman in over his head well, but the film isn't carried by him alone, the rest of the cast are all excellent in portraying the range of characters on both sides of the drugs business. The downside is that while it's a solid film, it's not particularly original and there's no real surprises along the way. That's enough to prevent this from being an excellent film, but it is a decent one.
Good, albeit slow shoot em up!By Smartstring (38 reviews) , 29 Nov 2013Good Rock film, hundreds of bullets fired at him and they all miss, until shock horror later in the film a minor leg wound, what can I say its an action film with lots of blood, death, kill!! but what a ridiculous story line more in keeping with Superman.
boring filmBy Didcot (14 reviews) , 27 Nov 2013I found this film very boring and it is not normal for the rock to get beaten up. MAYBE I need to try and watch it again as everyone else likes it on here.
How far would you go?By a customer , 26 Nov 2013The son of John Matthew's (Dwayne) is arrested for a drugs offence. In order to reduce his jail sentence, Dwayne volunteers to work undercover to set up the drug runners. He runs a construction company and pretends he needs money to keep his business afloat. He hides the drugs in cement bags in order to deliver them without suspicion. Dwayne then gets asked to transport the drug cartel's money too, to Mexico. He takes a huge risk and puts his life and the life of his family in danger. For once Dwayne is not the man who shoots and punches his way out of everything. He acts the part of a protective father very well and brings an authenticity to his role.
