Beautiful experienceBy flower (38 reviews) from Hove , 25 Nov 2006
[Highly rated reviewer]I totally agree with previous reviewer. I came out of this film feeling that I'd seen something small and special. It's provisionally a film about accepting someone with autism but it's really a lot more than that - it's about acceptance full stop. We are all complicated, flawed, often eccentric - the central character's autism is important and unique but also an extension of how difficult and challenging we can all be - including the other characters in the film. It's also about love, separation, loss, grief - and love. The setting, music, photography, performance all combine to produce a beautiful, nuanced, heart-warming, life-affirming experience.

Delightful and a new way of looking at the worldBy HugoM (13 reviews) , 03 May 2011Just an amazing portrayal of autism.
Rickman plays a withdrawn writer, angry with the world but suppressing his anger (why, comes out later). He reluctantly gives a vivacious youngter a lift and appears to barely tolerate her constant chatter, but obviously becomes attached. When she's killed in a traffic accident, he goes to tell her mother only to find a woman who at first appears incapable of showing emotion.
Gradually the writer gets attached to this woman, but it's more about mutual annoyance than affection; we see her hopes and dreams, her emotion expressed in intriguing ways, and him coming to terms with his own past and overcoming.
Well worth watching and enjoying
Must watch movieBy a customer , 02 May 2011Don't miss this film it is a truly remarkable tale of an autistic woman's struggle to live a 'normal' life, whatever normal is. Weaver is outstanding
Different, and way better than expectedBy DougieHauser (140 reviews) from Canadia , 07 Jan 2011Really enjoyed this movie. No Hype, no special effects, simple story, nice ending.
What more could you ask for.
Good filmBy nattyann (1 review) from bournemouth , 22 Nov 2010good film, it's nice to know there are films about other parts of the autistic spectrum... other than rain man. Good film abit over the top in parts.
Stunning..By a customer from Leighton Buzzard, England , 14 Nov 2010What an outstanding film! Quite an unusual basis for a story, but the performance of Sigorney Weaver is so powerful that you will be entranced from the get go. Alan Rickman is amazing, I've never seen him in this sort of role, but he played the part with great emotion and skill. I loved the off beatness of this movie, definitely worth 5 stars.
