No fairy taleBy Ker (32 reviews) from Bedford , 31 Jul 2012

[Highly rated reviewer]Quite a dark movie - not so much one for the younger kids. Gives a re-telling of the original story but in a more gothic-type way.

Great photography - poor castingBy Dashers (7 reviews) from UK , 11 Nov 2013Being based on a fairy-tale the film hit exactly as expected in terms of plot. The directing and photography were superb, I really enjoyed the visual and audio feast that had been created. Most of the film is dark and gritty in terms of feel with a jump to the colourful and wonderful - which makes a massive impact. The lead male actors are well cast and believable in their roles. Here endith the good. The female casting was dire. Charlize Theron seemed to be under the impression that she was modelling a photoshoot. She was clearly out-of-her-depth when it came to acting a villain. Frankly she was painful to watch. I thought Kristen Stewart was an odd person to cast visually as Snow White, but hey, I went with it. Alas, her character was entirely unbelievable - and the rousing monologue seemed more like the ramblings of a nutter. I would have walked off half-way through... Apparently the producers have kept Kristen for a second film and dropped the director. This is the shame as the technical aspects of the film were really the only enjoyable parts. TL;DR: Looks pretty, poor acting.
Did not deliver...By yanbart (135 reviews) , 07 Nov 2013Yet another film that I was really looking forward to following all of the hype (even the trailer looked awesome) yet, sadly, it didn't deliver...very average. Lost interest halfway through.
Different and EnjoyableBy Scribes (338 reviews) , 03 Nov 2013It doesn't matter to me what other reviewers have said about this particular film, I enjoyed it. I would agree that the script was on the weak side, but this is probably because we already know the story of Snow White anyway. Charlize Theron stole the show for me, I thought she did a great job portraying the wicked witch. The special effects were unusual and I had a great time identifying the seven dwarfs. How they managed to get Bob Hoskins, Ian McShane, Ray Winstone, Toby Jones etc., etc., top look so small is beyond me ... very clever! Conclusion: Give it a go, you may well enjoy it!
mirror mirror on the wall, which is the slightly lacklustre film of all?By rintintin (3 reviews) , 26 Oct 2013Interesting special effects are one thing, but plot and story are another. After a while, I just didn't care about the characters and what they were up to, though I did keep watching (well, I had paid for this) with the hope that it would improve....it didn't. in a mirrored nutshell, not bad.... but not good.
Better than Mirror Mirror... justBy FullofStars (65 reviews) from Scotland , 23 Oct 2013Yes, it is better than the funnier Mirror Mirror but this is not a children's fairy tale. It's violent, dark and brooding and therefore a bit more realistic (sort of). Is it great. No. Could have been a lot better and seems a bit rushed at the end, however I quite enjoyed it!
