HEED! DVD NOW!

What a fab film, even those who don't like myers work will like this riotous film which will keep you entertained until the very unexpected ending. Myers (Austin Powers, Wayne's World) is wonderful in the lead, as well as playing his own scottish father, and supported neatly by the beautiful Nancy Travis (The Vanishing). Not as silly as some might think this is a cleverly controled and contrived comedy. If you haven't seen this one yet you won't be disappointed! Contains Infrequent strong language, and some sexual references.- Was this review helpful to you?

By Kusanagiguy (101 reviews) from London , 13 Jun 2012Mike Myers movies can be a bit hit or miss (more on the side of miss) which is why Axe Murderer is such a pleasant revisit years after its release.
While the initial set up feels much like an SNL skeetch (and most of Myers career output in fact) this fortunatly has legs to carry it throughout it's running time without overstaying it's welcome.
Even with the wacky setup (man meets girl, falls in love discovers she may be an axe murderer) this is very much a reality based setting allowing us to become involved in the characters lives and care about the ongoing relationship between Charlie and Harriet.
The comedy while wacky at times never feels forced and comes naturally dependant on the situation rather than having forced situations to create the humour.
Time can be unkind to comedy movies as the references become dated but as of yet that has not happened to Axe Murderer
Comedy is subjective and while this may not be everyone cup of tea but im sure more people will enjoy this than not - so give it a go even if your not a Myers fan- Was this review helpful to you?

Tongue-in-cheek gentle comedy
By a customer , 13 Jun 2012I'm not wild about Myers but this film is really nice. Yes, there are some very obvious bits, but there are also some lovely surprise laughs and the film is gently entertaining throughout.- Was this review helpful to you?

Wished i had given it a miss
By a customer , 31 May 2012I didn't find this film very funny, the story line was daft. I kept losing interest throughout the film. Not my cup of tea.- Was this review helpful to you?

Dark and funny, what more can I ask for?
By CherryBakeswell (2 reviews) , 08 Apr 2012I have really enjoy this film, over and over again for nearly 20 years. It is a gentle reminder of the Friends-era comedy and Mike Myers, as usual is brilliant.- Was this review helpful to you?
