As far as british period dramas go, this is a fine cast in a carefully presented film with great attention to the era in which it is set. As far as it being a representation of the novel by D H Lawrence, is can only be pressumed that whoever decided to adapt it to a film has never read the book. Not only did it pick up in an unusual approach at approximately the second chapter (I say approx because it had no bearing whatsoever on the book), it ended ubruptly far before the end. Instead of a story focusing on the loves of Paul Morrell with Clara, his mother and Gertrude, it focused only on the relationships of his brother William and then in a very ropey fashion. If you thought this was a short cut to try and blag through your GCSE's or A levels forget it - you would be better advised to read the back cover and go to the pub for an hour and a half.
I was very disappointed about it. I couldnt understand the meaning of this film
