A young man goes to London to seek his fortune. He starts a long trek with his mother.

A nice, in parts black comedy but really a feelgood film. Well done the UK can outdo the US Rent it

This was ok and thank god it was saved by Stockard Channing. Mannville overacted, Hoskins was not really present but it was an ok watch in a twee way.

  • MIXED REVIEWS INGNORE THEM - JUST RENT IT

HERE WERE GO AGAIN ANOTHER FILM WITH MIXED REVIEWS EITHER 2 OUT OF 10, OR 9 OUT OF 10. THOSE WHO GIVE REALLY BAD REVIEWS DONT THEY READ THE CONTENTS ON THE TIN BEFORE OPENING IT, AS YOU HAVE SOME IDEAS AS TO EXACTLY WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR. I KNOW SOMETIMES ITS NOT THAT SIMPLE. THIS FILM WAS GOOD RIGHT FROM THE START AND DID NOT FAIL TO HIT THE SPOT. ORIGINAL FUNNY WELL ACTED AND ENJOYABLE SO WELL DONE TO THE PEOPLE WHO GAVE RAVE REVIEWS. ITS SPEAKS FOR ITSELF WHEN I TRY TO PURCHASE IT TO ADD TO MY COLLECTION THAT THEY HAVE SOLD OUT AND NEED TO RE STOCK. DEFINITELY WORTH RENTING

Absolute rubbish - hammy acting, unreal characters (particularly Sam) and so irritating we couldn't finish watching it. Horrified that National Lottery money financed the making of it. An indulgent luvvie-fest with no redeeming features whatsoever - so utterly devoid of anything positive that I was moved to post this review.

  • Undemanding love story

    Rated - 3.5 stars
By Whipster (663 reviews) from Shropshire , 03 Mar 2011
Very undemanding and gentle British romantic drama. A minor tale of a guy and his clingy mother moving to London to try and make good. After a slightly twisty (though it has to be said pretty obvious) storyline we have a feelgood ending. Nothing much to dislike. Cast are all fine - Bob Hoskins doing his slightly slow but lovely old bloke, Amanada Ryan looking edible - but this minor love story isn't going to win any awards. 3.5 stars.
