Annie Porter's last boyfriend Jack--a daredevil cop--didn't turn out to be too much of a romantic type and they have long since parted ways. She's now dating a much quieter, relaxed guy. To be sure, Alex Shaw also works in law enforcement, but he drives a ten-speed bike, and his most perilous duty is busting teenage pickpockets .. Read more

Director Jan De Bont's listlessly routine sequel to his own powerhouse original is a massive disappointment. Sandra Bullock reprises her role as Annie Porter who, with cop boyfriend Jason Patric, boards a luxury cruise liner for a holiday. Before you can say Where's Keanu Reeves?, disgruntled computer genius Willem Dafoe puts his extortion plan into operation and turns their voyage into a titanic nightmare. Bloated set pieces and predictable suspense scupper De Bont's waterlogged effort to re-create on sea what worked so brilliantly on land. Familiarity quickly breeds contempt, with Bullock merely along for the ride.
Further evidence, after the computer-generated vapidity of Twister, that De Bont's directorial career has expended the... read more on Time Out

Enough said.
Great Second movie .. the 2nd in the line of Sandra Bullock however this is lacking Keanau Reeves ... this one has Jason Patric as a cop whom takes miss bullock on a cruise after several attemps at getting her driving license ... however the Electrical Designer has other ideas (william Dafoe) he plans to sink the ship inclusive of passengers ... its time to stop the popcorn and hang on to your seats as these three paople take you on a journey across the meditereanean in a all action pcked adventure
This film should have been given it's own title separate from Speed and then there would be no comparison.
It stands on its own as an easy to watch exciting family movie.
Very enjoyable film, in some ways I prefer Speed 2 to the first film, as it had more comical moments.

Found this to be not as good as first. Bit corny but still full of action.
Speed 2 - cruise control can be extremely tiresome. Some scenes are istresting and tense but they are few and far between. Sandra Bullock does a great job playing the main charecter. She is expecting to have a really nice vacation on a cruise ship but the boat is taken over by a mad hostage is hell bent on getting revenge because the makers of the huge cruise sacked him, she ends up fighting for survival with a little help from her LAPD officer boyfriend. There are some good actions sequences in this film but its really nothing to write home about.
Zero excitement, stupid plot, unfunny jokes, lousy acting. Don't even think of renting this turkey - it really is as bad as you've heard.
This is a much-maligned film, for no real reason. Yes it's very generic, with none of the nice touches which made the original great, and Willem Dafoe can occasionall over-ham it, but it's still perfectly watchable. Put it towards the bottom of your list, but give it a chance. Only main bad point - the final ploughing of the boat towards shore drags on far too long.
Possibly the worst sequal ever made.
No where near as good as the first.
Action / Stunts are well staged
Worth a look

A sequel so contrived and artificial that it swiftly sinks with all hands.
