wipeout the movie...
By badsibot (3 reviews) from Glasgow , 07 May 2008[Highly rated reviewer]
first things first...I had no expectations for this movie. The trailer made it look like a confusing, cheesy mess and the waskowski's runied the originality of the matrix with it's dire, dull sequels. So it was with a nagging 'what am i doing here?' that i walked into the imax early this morning to see it.
Some really hammy acting made that nagging grow louder but then the racing started and the pure visual assault of color and speed, especially on the imax screen, won me over...a little bit anyway.
You just can't ignore it, the racing is exhilirating and for the most part not totally confusing which is what i expected to be, there's also some fight sequences which are fun, exciting and original.
It's a kids movie, like whacky races on acid, with caricature charactes painted with a very unsubtle brush, but adults will like the way the tracks all look like wipeout courses and all the references to eighties manga and anime.
If you go expecting rubbish I think you'll be pleasantly surprised, and try to see it at imax if u can...you won't have time to question it if you do.- Was this review helpful to you?

(109)Utter rubbish
By a customer , 23 Jun 2012After all the hype I expected a fast paced exciting film. Was I ever disappointed, it was total rubbish! The story jumped from past to present all the time till you couldn't grasp the storyline (if there even was one.) Just a load of noise and blobs of colour, we ejected the disc after 10 minutes as we couldn't stand it any longer. Wish I'd read all the reviews before I put it on my list.- Was this review helpful to you?

Not all it could have been, but it's watchable. Kids should like it.
By MrStrange (46 reviews) from Isle Of Wight , 27 May 2012The visual style is quite unique, other than that this is pretty shallow, but somewhat enjoyable. It's like watching a very bright, very loud videogame for 2 hours.
The fast pace of the racing scenes (and there are a lot of them) extremely bright colours and basic humour will no doubt keep kids entertained, but there's not much plot and it's a bit messy and slightly confusing in places, mainly due to the fast pace of the film. The acting is very hammy, but I guess it fits with the overall 'cartoony' vibe of the film.
You'll probably either love it or hate it. I enjoyed it, but I'm not sure I'd watch it again.- Was this review helpful to you?

Speed Disgrace
By rockdudejon (11 reviews) , 20 May 2012Absolute rubbish, i gave this film 10 mins of my time before giving up on it. The acting was awful, the plot was poor and you needed sun glasses just to watch the film.- Was this review helpful to you?

utter pants
By TheMarb (14 reviews) from Derby , 02 Jan 2012Not even a good blockbuster.
Take a special director (i this case 2) to take $100 million and make it look this cheap and nasty. Despite all attempts to make a living cartoon, this film is a dreary mess of poor CGI, and limp plotting.- Was this review helpful to you?

Hold on to the sofa

Great upbeat film, colourful graphics and fast moving action stunts.
Should satisfy all those armchair race car drivers!- Was this review helpful to you?
