Two totally incompetent applicants, Emmett Fitzhume and Austin Millbarge, are chosen from a CIA recruitment program. They are parachuted into Pakistan and eventually end up in Afghanistan, chased by the Russians, where they learn they are being used as decoys to draw out the Sovet defenses. Read more

Chevy Chase and Dan Aykroyd team up in this 80?s spy spoof where they are recruited as American agents, albeit incompetent and bungling agents for a secret mission into Russia only to find that they are in fact decoys for the real mission.
Without ruining the plot too much, the real mission is to do with testing a space based weapon system and accidentally starting the world war III. There are some particularly funny bits like their special agent training? watch out for the centrifuge scene. Personally I thought that it was too cold for the bolstering east-west relations bit in a tent in Siberia but I guess you would at least try faced with impending doom and a very attractive Russian. All in all a great action / comedy. A must see for all Aykroyd and Chase fans.
Ah the 80's... a time when big hair, shoulder pads, bands like 'Wham!' invaded the charts and computers struggled to add 2+2. This was a time when actors like Chase and Aykroyd where in some of the most memorable films. This is one of those films! If you remember this from the first time round you really should watch it again. It's comedy gold and will have you laughing all the way to the end. Speaking of the end, it seems to come to quickly... I want more! Rent it and you'll have a real laugh at how the world used to be.
this is a great old film very funny
Usual good comedy from 80's stars Chase and Ackroyd.
Worth a go!

This is an amusing film , the actors Dank and Chase are briliant throughout , theres not a second of bad screen time with thesse guys , they will make you laugh.
The plot i didnt fully follow what was going on sadly . about half way it gets confusing as to what is going on i found .
However the comedy value of Chevy and his just brilliant face made up for it ,
Im not a fan of long movies over the 90 minute mark i find it difficult to sit that long watching something but with this it wasn't such a problem i enjoyed it and was disapointed when it ended.
Its a good 80's movie which if your looking for a little light heart relief is perfect.
Im loving Chevy , im going to rent all his films now!!!
This is a very funny movie, its good for a rainy Sunday afternoon
I grew up in the golden age of kick ass Steven Segal flicks and funny Chevy Chase movies, and I can still remember the cinema I saw Spies Like Us at. Sadly it is no longer a cinema, and sadly Chevy Chase is no longer funny...
Spies Like Us is not in the same league as Vacation or Fletch, but it does have some classic comic moments - 'Doctor' 'Doctor' 'Doctor' 'Doctor' 'Doctor' 'Doctor' 'Doctor'
You also get to play 'Spot the famous director' - Joel Coen and Sam Raimi to name just two.
Starts strong, but runs out of steam half way through. Not as good as I remember it, but then not that many movies are! Ghostbusters stands the test of time, this doesn't. So if you have fond memories, stay away. But if you're a fan of Chevy and have never seen Spies Like Us, I'd say it just tips the scale onto the 'still funny' side of his career.
