Beautifully Drawn Animation

The single most impressive thing about this Japanese animation is that it is a wonderful hand drawn work of art. You have to go right back to the Disney animations of the 1940's and 50's to see anything this well crafted. And unlike American animations, the characters feel real and the Japanese work ethic shines all the way through. Whether young children will enjoy it as much as the Hollywood movies, I doubt. By blackpolekev (197 reviews) from blackpole , 22 Apr 2013This was the first Studio Ghibli film I ever saw & found it mind-blowing and I haven't been able to look at a Disney or Pixar animation the same way since. Forget CGI and 3D, all you need is a fantastically imaginative story, beautifully drawn, and this is utterly captivating from start to finish; this is a masterpiece. And yet, just when I thought no animation could ever be better than this, along came Howl's Moving Castle. Wow.

Chaotic and amazing
By a customer , 01 Dec 2012Very adventurous! Action everywhere and strange beings. Though if you prefer reality this is not for you.... You wonder where the story line is going at the start but from there it's high sailing. Very strange but brilliantly written. It's all unpredictable- Was this review helpful to you?

A Masterpiece.
By a customer , 14 Aug 2012Without doubt the best film I have ever seen. Hugely imaginative, a sort of Japanese Alice in Wonderland. A wonderful assortment of characters from a huge headed Yubaba to beautiful spirits the come to bathe in the bath house.- Was this review helpful to you?
