After the outstanding first series and the uncompromising stand the producers took in killing off one of the big names early on, the second series had a lot to live up to. And on the whole, it does.
Picking up right where we left off at the end of season 1, the show starts with a bang and then keeps up the pace. There are a few weak episodes, but they are more than compensated for by the three or four outstanding shows that surpass even the original series.
As we enter a season on television where we are being treated to a rash of spy and terrorism television (Spy, Crisis Command, The Grid etc), Spooks maintains that authentic feel of good solid drama and a reluctance to fall in to stereotype. It doesn't always succeed, but is gripping and original for its outlook and portrayal of spys not as James Bond heros or shadowy double agens, but simply people who have to ballance a difficult job while still living in the real world.
Season 2 of Spooks really put the series on the map as a top quality TV thriller. All the characters have a chance to shine and the dialogue is really sharp. The cliffhanger on the final episode is probably the best i've ever seen on a UK show and highlights what we've been lacking for many years. Long live Spooks.
i wish there were 6 stars. i love this series! I love the plots, i love the actors, i love the shots, I love everythin about it.
Makes me think about all the issues and decisions that are being considered 'out there' while we all live in our little worlds.
An entertaining and thought provoking series, carried in a pleasing vehicle.
This is a fantastic series! It's interesting to see into the spy's private lives. I feel quite sorry for Zoe and do not like Tom's new choice of girlfriend!!! The spying is all clever stuff too and the hour episode just whizzes by!
Brillaint brilliant brilliant. An engaging British drama with very good characters and excpetional plot lines. My only concern is how will they keep up the standard, but they have and do. We're so greedy for the character plotlines to develop we're watching two and sometimes four episodes in a sitting. Absolutely capturing. I'm slightly worried about what we'll watch when the series are over! Highly recommend this.

It is good that the BBC did not listen to the complaints they received during the first series. I'm glad they kept it topical and controversial. With superb acting, spy drama doesn't get any better than this.

You HAVE to watch this!
Series one of Spooks really left us on a cliffhanger! I don't want to give the plot away but I did feel just a tad cheated! I really enjoyed all the extras on the DVD, especially the commentaries. Anyway it's a great series! Episode 2 deals with suicide bombers, quite chilling after recent events!!

unlike James Bond spooks does not use hi tech gadgets and invisible cars. it is quite realistic.
It also deals with realistic problems that the UK faces. Strong acting by all actors.
.... there are only 2 episodes on this first disc, the extras are all a little lame and the navigation system is mysterious to the point of being baffling! Just hit play and enjoy that spook action!
